We are visual artists and we have been working together since 2010 as [RED BIND]. Through performance, video and photography, we analyze the confrontation to otherness and its interthematic with subjects such as: social yokes; dominant/dominated relationships; codes and what happens to them out of their context; gender and its limits and ambiguities; issues of the double and of the multiple characters under a single skin; or yet the identity, status and image of Woman.
Since 2010, we give our performances a participative format in a desire for sensitive dialogue with the public. We provoke situations of meeting within a framework whose settings are meticulously predefined, in a will for intimidate collection of emotions and sensations of the public, for instant feedback on the impact the work can generate.
We are in search for immediacy facing the issue of biased social relationships, directed by the echo we create between video and performative act, between the image we give of ourselves and the reading that the viewer makes of it.
Our performances appear as time suspensions, as strange enclaves in the apparent rationality of everyday life, as no man’s lands located at the breaking point of social conventions.
Our actions, with a strong cathatic dimension, are deliberately ambiguous and paradoxical. Deeply tinged with a « Disturbing Strangeness » (Das Unheimlich), they question the strength of paradoxes, the contradictions, tensions and ambivalences of the human soul and allow a plural and hypothetical interpretation,
They crystallize the notion of « Double Bind » and its effects on communication deficiencies at the orgin of many individual pathologies. Finally, they study the limits, in all their meanings, as well as their porosity.
RED BIND has show work internationally, such as: France, London, Germany, United States, Iran and Serbia
